Convert VMDK to VHD or VHDX Files

The following provides step-by-step instructions for converting VHD files
- Convert vmdk to vhd if you want to create image fast from Virtual machine
- Download the "VMDK2VHD" converter from http://www.ccboot.com/download/vhdtools.
- Double-click the "VMDK2VHD" converter executable to run the program.
- The "VMDK2VHD" dialog box will pop up
- In the dialog box, locate and select the VMDK file that you want to convert to VHD.
- Choose the destination folder where you want to save the converted VHD file.

Converting VHDX to VHD using Hyper-V you need to have Hyper-V installed on your Windows 10 machine.
- Right-click on the Start button and select "Apps and Features" or press Win + X and choose "Programs and Features."
- Click on "Turn Windows features on or off."
- Scroll down and check "Hyper-V."
- Click "OK" and wait for the installation to complete.
- After installation, you'll be prompted to restart your computer. Do so to complete the setup.
- Press Win + S, type "Hyper-V Manager," and open the application.
- In Hyper-V Manager, right-click on the newly created virtual machine and select "Edit Disk."
- Browse to the location of your VHDX file and select it.
- Click "Next" and choose the "VHD" format.
- Complete the wizard, and the conversion will start.
- VHD is ready.
- Convert vhd to vmdk if you want to restore the image to the Virtual machine.
- Download winimage from https://www.winimage.com/download.htm
- Go to the "Disk" menu.
- Select "Convert Virtual Hard Disk image..." from the dropdown menu.
- Browse and select the VHD file for conversion.
- Choose "VMware VMDK" as the save format.
- Configure additional settings if necessary.
- Click "OK" or "Convert" to start the conversion.
- Choose a location to save the converted VMDK file and provide a name.
- Wait for the conversion process to complete.
- Verify the presence of the converted VMDK file in the specified location.
